Herman Upmann was not only a successful banker from Germany, but also an avid lover of Cuban cigars. In 1844, he moved to Havana and became both a banker and cigar maker. Although his bank closed in the early 1920s, his cigars continue to be known for their elegant and light to medium flavors as a prime example of Habano excellence. The blend for H.Upmann’s cigars is carefully crafted with filler and binder tobaccos exclusively grown in the Vuelta Abajo region using the traditional Tripa Larga, Totalmente a Mano technique – long filler, completely hand-rolled.
